Similarly, the institute has revised fees for the one year post graduate programme for executives by five per cent as well.
Talking about the fee hike, Samir Barua, director, IIM-A said, "Fees have been revised because of inflation.
"Yet, the revision does not correspond with the inflation rate so as to moderate the impact on students' families who will be paying the fees."
The institute, however, has not proposed any change in its fee waiver system.
Post fee revision this year, candidates will be required to pay Rs 14.45 lakhs (Rs 1.44 million) for the flagship post graduate programme in management.
Last year Indian Institute of Managament-Ahmedabad revised fees for the PGP Batch 2010-12, by about 9.6 per cent to Rs 13.70 lakh or Rs 1.37 million (Rs 660,000 for the first year and the balance for the second year).
The institute had said the fee includes all costs other than cost of food and had been arrived at after taking into account the significant increase in costs because of implementation of sixth pay commission's recommendations and inflation cost.
