Port of Houston eyes Indian maritime biz

A delegation from the Port of Houston has expressed interest in Indian maritime business. Addressing a CII interaction, Port Commissioner Jim Fonteno said seaborne trade with India had increased by nearly 190 per cent in the last decade.

According to a CII release, Fonteno said India, with over $916 million in trade, ranked 24th among the larger trade partners of the Port of Houston. He offered consulting services for India's maritime development.

The delegation is on its first international trade development mission to India. The leader of the mission, Miguel R San Juan, senior vice-president, Greater Houston Partnership, said India's trade with Houston ranked it among the top 25 countries.
