HM hikes Ambassador prices

CK Birla group company Hindustan Motors on Wednesday announced a marginal 0.5 per cent increase in Ambassador prices and 0.3-0.5 per cent on all Trekker variants following the announcement of a two per cent education cess in the Union Budget.

The Ambassador base model, 1.5 L DSL, would now become dearer by Rs 1,082-Rs 1,182 over the existing price of Rs 215,000-Rs 235,000. On the other hand, the '1.8 L ISZ' (Isuzu Petrol Engine) model would be costlier by Rs 1,281-Rs 1,564 over the current prices of Rs 255,000-Rs 311,000.

The top-end Ambassador '2L DSZ' (Isuzu Diesel Engine) would see the cost go up by Rs 1,230-Rs 1,634 against the current price between Rs 244,000-Rs 325,000.

The price hike on the LPG/CNG model would be between Rs 907-Rs 1,339 over the existing price of Rs 180,000-Rs 266,000.

The MUV Trekker would see the prices go up by Rs 590-Rs 1,173 over the existing Rs 183,000-Rs 233,000.

The company said it expected sales to be healthy this fiscal. "The auto industry witnessed strong growth rates last year. We are hopeful that the trend will continue in the current fiscal...we believe this will also have a positive impact on our operations," HM executive vice-president Ashwani Dubey said in a statement.
