Asserting that leading international consultancy firm A T Kearney had rated India as the third hottest FDI destination, India on Thursday sought investment from Taiwan in telecom and ICT ventures.

"India is a promising and profitable destination... According to a recent survey by A T Kearney, India's position as an investment destination has improved to third this year from sixth earlier," secretary, department of industrial policy and promotion, Ashok Jha, said.

"India is emerging as a global hub for software development, which complements Taiwan's competitiveness in manufacturing. There is a high level of interest among Taiwanese firms to invest in India," Chii Ming Yin, who is leading the Taiwanese delegation, said.

Jha was speaking at a roundtable on India-Taiwan cooperation in telecom and ICT sectors, attended by industry leaders from Taiwan and chief executive officers from India.

Spice Telecommunications CEO Dilip Modi also aired similar views and said India's telecom sector is poised to touch the $100 billion mark by 2020 from $9 billion sector now.

"There is a huge opportunity for Taiwanese firms to invest in India," Jha said.
