Etihad Airways will operate an Airbus A380 aircraft on one of its three daily Abu Dhabi-Mumbai flights from May 1 next year.

Etihad is the fourth airline to operate an A380 aircraft to India after Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Lufthansa.

Etihad CEO James Hogan said in a statement today that the launch of A380 flight to India is a further proof of confidence in the Indian market and commitment to its economy.

With a total capacity of 496 seats, the A380 offers 50 per cent more seats than the Boeing B777-300ER which flies on the route now, offering more options for tourism growth into India, USA and Abu Dhabi.

Etihad Airways' A380 features a three-room suite called The Residence by Etihad as well as nine first apartments, 70 business studios, and 415 economy smart seats, the airline announced on Tuesday.
