The Maharashtra government has decided to allow MSEB to draw power from phase I of Dabhol Power Company at an optimum level of 83 per cent and tariff of about Rs 2.80 per KWH (kilowatt-hour) on an interim basis, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.
This decision is subject to approval by Maharashtra State Electricity Regulatory Commission and the High Court of Mumbai, Minister of State for Power Jayawanti Mehta said in a written reply.
"Such a tariff level takes into account the current cost of naphtha (after remission of all central and state levies and taxes), with the fuel cost being a 'pass through' item," Mehta said.
For the proposed restart of Dabhol Phase I, the tariff model is based on the recovery on interest on debt at reduced rates and without any provision for depreciation or debt repayment, the minister added.
In reply to another question on Dabhol, she said no documents relating to the project have been shown to the Justice Kurdukar Commission of Inquiry.
