In a move that could signal a synergy of operations among domestic carriers, the G R Gopinath-promoted Air Deccan is exploring code sharing options with full-service airlines and other low-cost carriers.
The move comes in the wake of cancellation of certain flights owing to fog and other technical errors.
"We have already tied up with low-cost carrier Spice Jet. We are exploring similar kind of agreements with other full-service airlines in the private sector," a senior Air Deccan executive said.
This will ensure proper connectivity between two airports where less number of airlines are operating, he added.
On the fleet expansion front, Air Deccan is planning to buy 30 new A320 aircraft worth a list price of $1.5 billion from Airbus, adding to a similar order placed a year ago ahead of a plan to go public.
The acquisition deal was signed with Airbus Industries earlier this week and the delivery will begin from 2008, the Bangalore-based airline said in a statement.
Deccan Aviation, the airline's owner, had placed orders for 32 Airbus A320 planes with a list price of $1.8 billion a year ago and also for 30 ATR 72-500 aircraft.
