Samsung India Electronics Ltd, one of the leading companies in the field of digital technology, has brought the year's eagerly awaited cyber olympics called the World Cyber Games to Mumbai.
The World Cyber Games preliminaries, which were kicked off in New Delhi on October 13 and 14, are being organised in eight cities with the semi-finals and finals being held in Mumbai on October 30 and 31, according to Ruchika Batra, GM, Samsung India Electronics Pvt Ltd.
WCG preliminaries had been organised in seven cities including New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata across the country, with the final being held today at Kamala Mill Compound, Lower Parel in Central
Mumbai.
The WCG Prelims have seen an enthusiastic participation from college-goers and senior school students. Ace rifle shooter Anjali Bhagwat visited the WCG Prelims at Mumbai on Friday and encouraged the participants, Batra said.
She said this year, around 800 gamers from over 70 countries across the world are expected for the world championship. The winner will get prizes worth over $4.20 lakh at Suntec Convention Centre in Singapore from November 16-20.
Singapore was selected as a host city of WCG because of the city's international character with outstanding tourism and IT infrastructure, unique position as the world's centre of IT business and finance, she added.
