During the ensuing Monsoon session of Parliament, the central government is likely to move a Constitutional amendment bill pertaining to the introduction of Goods and Services Tax.

Unless ratified by eight states, a Constitutional amendment cannot be signed by the President of India.

Sources indicate that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has held two rounds of discussions with the senior officials of the Union law ministry to giving the final touches to the Constitution amendment bill.

Insiders also confirm that the GST bill will be referred to Ashim Dasgupta, chairman of the GST standing committee.
