India has imposed a provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of silk fabric from China weighing 20-100 grams per meter.
The duty has been imposed on the basis of the recommendations made by the Directorate-General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties.
In its preliminary findings last week, the DGAD had concluded that the domestic industry had suffered material injury on account of the imports and that the goods had been exported to India at a value below the normal one.
The anti-dumping duty will be valid till November 30, 2006, and will be payable in Indian currency.
