National Geographic Channel Network (India) Ltd is launching on November 30 a pay TV channel that will exclusively telecast programmes of historical interest.

History Channel is being launched by National Geographic in collaboration with Art and Entertainment Television Network.

The channel would be available to around 1.5 crore (15 million) cable and satellite households on the day of launch itself, Zubin Gandevia, managing director, History Channel, told reporters in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The payment structure of the channel had yet to be fixed, he said, adding it would be aired as a part of the Star bouquet.

Star would promote and distribute the channel, apart from helping in generating advertisement revenues for the channel, Gandevia said.

The channel would be available in English, while Hindi viewers in the country would be provided Hindi feed at prime time from 10 pm till midnight, he said.

The Hindi feed would be available on a round-the-clock basis from June next year, he added.

A&ETN, a joint venture of Hearst Corporation, ABC Inc and NBC, offers television programming, magazine publishing, web sites, books and music CD among others.
