The Supreme Court on wednesday issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and six accused on a petition filed by Graziano Trasmissioni India, the Indian subsidiary of Italian company, seeking cancellation of the bail granted to the accused in the murder case of its chief executive officer in Greater Noida last year.

CEO Lalit Kishore Chaudhary was bludgeoned to death on September 22 last year by a 200-strong armed mob of dismissed workers which had barged into the company premises and indulged in large-scale violence.

The violence had left at least 40 executives and workers of the unit injured. The unit had also sustained heavy damage in the vandalism that followed. The agitating workers were demanding reinstatement in the company.

A bench headed by Justice Markenday Katju while refusing to stay the Allahabad high court order, sought reply from the state government and the six accused as to why their bail should not be cancelled.

The accused, who were granted bail on May 19, are Kailash Chand, Jaswant Singh, Pankesh Kumar, Jogendra Singh, Rajendra and Komal Singh.

Challenging the high court order that granted bail to these mob leaders, the company said that the bail should not have been granted when the accused have been charged with heinous offences punishable with death or life imprisonment.
