Maruti Suzuki's exclusive programme for Indians residing overseas, 'Dil Se' is finally finding favour with NRIs six months after it was launched.

The programme enables Indians residing overseas to gift a car to anyone residing in India and had found very few takers since its inception.

Originally targeted at young Indians working abroad and saving enough to buy a car for their family back home, the programme, has come out of its sluggish start and is evolving as a new revenue generating source.

"Six months back not many people were familiar with the concept of gifting a car sitting in another country, but in the recent times the number of enquiries have soared. From very modest sales, not less than six cars are being booked by NRIs everyday, which translates into monthly sales of at least 150 cars," I V Rao, chief general manager, engineering division, told Business Standard.
