Bulgaria, one of the countries that hope to join European Union in next four years, is seeking Indian investments, the ambassador and minister-counsellor of Bulgarian Republic, Borislav Kostov, said in New Delhi on Monday.
He said the areas of investments identified are engineering, information technology, food processing and automobile.
Bulgaria had drawn up excellent incentive packages for foreign investments, he said.
When asked whether there are any Indian investments in Bulgaria at the moment, he said that there were none.
Talking about Indo-Bulgarian trade, he said during 2002 calendar year, the volume of two-way trade was $23 million, out of which Indian exports were $16 million and imports were $7 million.
The ambassador said the Bulgarian government was creating an awareness programme to enable the country increase exports as well as invite foreign investments.
The Bulgarian envoy said the country was also supportive of India's candidature at the UN Security Council.
