Bukhara restaurant of the Maurya Sheraton in Delhi has been adjudged as one of the top 50 restaurants in the world.
Bukhara was at the 36th place in the list of the world's 50 top restaurants, complied by London-based magazine The Good Food Guide.
Britain has more than a quarter of the world's 50 best restaurants. To be more precise, England has 13 of the 50 -- nine in London and another three within easy commuting distance.
Though the list is compiled by a magazine based in London, it is taken seriously around the world, and chefs and proprietors honoured by inclusion travelled from as far as California, Barbados, Dubai, India, Hong Kong and Australia to celebrate their success at the awards ceremony in London on Tuesday night.
Rating restaurants is a subjective business, but Restaurant's awards, presented by the restaurateur Sir Terence Conran at the Royal Exchange in Central London, were voted by "an international panel of 300 restaurateurs, chefs, critics and journalists".
The title Best Restaurant in the World was won, for the second consecutive year, by Thomas Keller's The French Laundry in California, even though Keller has opened a second restaurant in New York since he won last year.
