BT opens APAC centre in India, hires 30

Communications solutions and services provider British Telecommunications' (BT) Indian arm, BT India (BTI), on Tuesday said it will invest 375,000 pounds (about $558,418) for setting up its Asia Pacific security operations centre (SOC) in the country.

The company will also hire about 30 people to focus on its Asia Pacific and global customers.

The SOC will provide security device management services and the company will invest 3,75,000 pounds and will employ over 30 highly skilled specialists, with a focus on Asia Pacific and global customers, BTI said in a statement.

The investment, part of the 'Follow-the-Sun' customer service model will account for physical site and staffing, equipment and maintenance, it added.

The centre will provide security device management services including firewalls, intrusion detection devices and Bluecoat Proxy devices used for securing networked-IT environment.

"We want customers to be able to change configuration and tackle problem management services which are engineered to BT's legendary quality standards," Sudhir Narang, MD, BTI  said.
