As part of a "goodwill pack", BPL Mobile will offer free short-messaging services to Pakistan till April 17, 2004.

According to a press release, BPL Mobile roam-free subscribers will get the first 25 outgoing messages free and pay no surcharge on their calls while roaming.

Normally, all roaming calls across operators attract a surcharge of 15 per cent.

The company has cornered 50,000 subscribers in its latest two-day promotion for its Mots (prepaid) subscribers.

Krishna Angara, executive, VP business operations, BPL Mobile, said, "The response has been overwhelming. We saw a 40 per cent increase in our recharges with over 50,000 recharging in two days.

"With the long pending roaming facility beginning in Pakistan last week, BPL Mobile now has roaming alliances with 481 networks across the world. In the ongoing cricket series, the 'Men in Blue' have done the country proud and we, along with our subscribers, are happy to join in the celebrations."
