Bharti Airtel and Vodafone, India's leading cellular service providers, in collaboration with Research In Motion, on Friday launched the new BlackBerry Pearl 8110 smartphone with built-in global positioning system in the Indian market.

The BlackBerry Pearl 8110 will be available from Airtel and Vodafone for Rs 24,990.

Through its built-in GPS, the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 can pinpoint a user's location and provides 'out-of-the-box' support for a wide variety of location-based applications and services including Google Maps.

The smartphone includes rich multimedia features together with powerful communications capabilities. It is one of the smallest and lightest smartphones on the market and is designed for people who want to make the most of their work and personal lives.

With its built-in GPS combined with WayFinder Navigator, users of the BlackBerry Pearl 8110 can plan trips, save their favourite locations and easily share routes and maps with others by email.

WayFinder Navigator, an after-market offering from Airtel, provides audible, turn-by-turn navigation and comes with maps covering major cities and road networks across India. WayFinder Navigator can be downloaded from the service provider's Web site and is available for a free six month trial.
