Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd on Monday said it has bagged a Rs 599 crore (Rs 5.99 billion) contract for setting up a 250 MW thermal power plant in Beed district of Maharashtra.
BHEL won the contract for one unit of 250 MW at New Parli thermal power station extension from Maharashtra State Electricity Board.
"With this (order), BHEL's power projects division has achieved a landmark by recording the highest ever order booking of over Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 100 billion) in a single year," BHEL said in a release in New Delhi.
BHEL's scope of work in the contract envisages design, engineering, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning of steam generator, steam turbine and generator along with associated auxiliaries including controls and instrumentation, transformers and electrostatic precipitators.
Located in Beed district, about 280 km from Aurangabad, the project is targeted for completion in the 10th Plan period, with the commissioning of the unit in a tight schedule of 31 months.
The turbine generator and boiler will be manufactured at the company's Haridwar and Trichy plants respectively, while controls and instrumentation will be supplied by BHEL's electronics division, Bangalore.
The transformers will be supplied by BHEL's Bhopal/Jhansi plant, while the company's Ranipet plant will manufacture and supply the electrostatic precipitators.
