The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Enterprises group has appointed Jai Menon as group president (information technology).

Menon was the head of information technology and technology applications in Bharti Televentures, which owns the AirTel brand. Menon will look after ADAE's IT-related activities across various businesses, including Reliance Infocomm, Reliance Energy and Reliance Capital.

Confirming the appointment of Menon, an ADAE source said more high profile appointments would follow from other telecom companies.

Menon was the architect of the globally acclaimed breakthrough "utility" model of IT outsourcing where he forged a strategic alliance with IBM for IT services for around $750 million over 10 years.

Prior to his stint with Bharti, Menon worked with IBM and BellSouth.
