Avocent to expand India biz

US-based Avocent Corporation, supplier of connectivity solutions for enterprise data centres, service providers and financial institutions, said on Monday it plans to expand operations in India and is planning a software development centre in the country.

The company would open additional centres across India, senior executives of the NASDAQ-listed firm said. The company already has four technical, sales and support offices at Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad.

Avocent recently acquired Cyclades Corporation and LANDesk, Avocent Management Systems Division, Global Branded Markets Senior Vice President Dudley DeVore said.

The company's business has grown rapidly in India in the last four years, with close to 400 enterprise customers in the country today, officials said.

"We will launch a new range of small and medium businesses products in the Indian market early next quarter, which would help enhance our share in this segment of the market," Avocent India Country Business Manager, Monish Chhabria said.

Avocent's product range includes KVM switching, extension, intelligent platform management interface, remote access, wireless, mobile, and video display solutions.
