Following the rise in outsourcing of manufacturing of auto components to India by global auto majors, German auto giant DaimlerChrysler has placed a Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion) worth order with Sigma Vibracoustic India Limited for supplying anti-vibration components.

"DaimlerChrysler has recently placed the order with us and the deal is for supply of the anti-vibration components for various DaimlerChrysler products including Mercedes-Benz (C and E class) cars, Artego trucks and Sprinter vans," SVIL's executive director of the Mohali plant, Pradeep Randhawa, said in Chandigarh on Wednesday.

SVIL's Mohali-based manufacturing unit will provide six types of components to the German auto major over the next five years.

He said the company which provides anti-vibration parts to Indica, Ford Ikon and Maruti Versa in the domestic market, has also been selected by DaimlerChrysler India for supply of anti-vibration rubber mounts, which are designed to ensure a comfortable drive.

"We have been selected by DaimlerChrysler as a single source supplier for these components," he said.

SVIL is a joint venture between Sigma and Germany-based Vibracoustic. "Supplies have already started," he said.

SVIL has invested Rs 30 crore (Rs 300 million) for manufacturing anti-vibration rubber components at the Mohali plant, he added.
