The Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC is the first-ever SUV offering in the company's ultra-luxurious 'Mercedes-Maybach' range and only the second Maybach model to be rolled out in the Indian market, following the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

German auto major Mercedes-Benz on Tuesday launched its ultra-luxury SUV, the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC, in India with price starting at Rs 2.43 crore (ex-showroom). And it was already sold out within a few minutes of the launch.

On the very first day of its launch the Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC has already sold out its 50+ ready units and now the next set will be customised and delivered to customers by Q1 2022.

India's most luxurious SUV, as it is being called, will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Up) unit.

Sussanne Khan, who was the guest at the launch, termed the car "Perfectly balanced".

The Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC is the first-ever SUV offering in the company's ultra-luxurious 'Mercedes-Maybach' range. It is only the second Maybach model to be rolled out in the Indian market, following the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class.

The first SUV to come to India under the Maybach brand, the GLS 600 houses a  4-litre petrol V8 engine under its hood which can churn out a hefty 410 kW (557hp) at 6000-6500 rpm.

That makes it do a 0-100 sprint in 4.9 seconds flat, with a top speed of 250 kmph.

The Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC was launched by Martin Schwenk, managing director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, and chief guest Sussanne Khan from Merecedes's Pune plant in Maharashtra.

Schwenk said, "Luxury motoring with an SUV in India is re-imagined with the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC."

He added that the company is now glad to hand over these sports utility vehicles (SUVs) to discerning customers who have expressed exceptionally high interest in this fine model that rewrites expectations in the luxury SUV segment.

Schwenk also said the Maybach brand "represents the pinnacle of luxury" and the new SUV "blends classic old-world charm and supreme comfort with the most cutting-edge technology to redefine the luxury experience on wheels".

With a length of 5205mm and a wheelbase of 3135mm, expect a huge amount of space for this four-seater luxury SUV.

Here is a glimpse of the interiors:

First-class private jet-like individual rear seats which can be reclined by 43.5 degrees with electrical adjustment with memory and pushed back by 120 mm. Also available will be multi-contour seats with electrically extending leg rest and massage function, wireless charging, MBUX rear tablet, a refrigerated compartment incorporated harmoniously into the rear armrest and more.

Riding on 23-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheels the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 also has an auto-retracting running board which makes it easier for one to step in and out.

Among the luxury features, it is also equipped with e-active body control, which acts to optimise driving feel, yet minimises the motions felt by passengers. Besides, it also has a dedicated Maybach drive programme for the suspension and powertrain that "offers rear-seat passengers the ultimate in ride comfort", the company said.

And to top it off, there is a mounting option for two champagne flutes for the rear passenger.
