Italian luxury sports car maker Ferrari is making a comeback in the Indian market with the opening of two dealerships in the country, which it terms as a "strategic market".

The company, which had last year severed ties with the Shreyans Group that was its exclusive distributor in India, will resume selling its vehicles in the country by the end of first quarter of 2015.

"Ferrari has announced the appointment of two new dealers in to extend its official presence in India, a strategic market for the company," Ferrari said in a statement.

The company enjoys a passionate and enthusiastic following in India and is firmly committed to providing a class-leading sales and after-sales service in the country, it added.

The company has appointed two dealerships each in Delhi and Mumbai, in order to cater to the new and existing customers, it said.

Ferrari had entered in India in 2011 and had appointed Shreyans Group as its official importer in the country. Last year, it ended association with the Indian importer as customer complaints rose.

Earlier, Ferrari was selling its range of models including the Ferrari California, 458 Italia and 599GTB Fiorano in India, which were priced between Rs 2.2 crore (Rs 22 million) and Rs 3.4 crore (Rs 34 million).
