The company has not confirmed its launch in India, and it is likely showcased to gauge the interest of the Indian public to a premium C-Size hatch.
Slotted above the Hyundai i20 in the company’s global range, the Hyundai i30 measures 4,300 mm long, 1,780 mm wide, 1,465 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2650 mm.
The interior is nearly similar to the Hyundai Elantra, featuring a flowing center console that houses a new BlueLink infotainment system with an updated navigation software and Apple Siri integration.
With a 6-speed manual gearbox, the powertrain produces 280 Nm, and 300 Nm with a seven-speed automatic unit.
Petrol options include a base 1.4-liter capable of producing 100 hp and 134 Nm, and a larger 1.6-liter engine that outputs 120 hp and 156 Nm.
Hyundai India is showcasing the 2016 Hyundai i20 at the Auto Expo 2016 today, which introduces new features to the India-spec model.
The top-end Asta (O) now gets projector headlamps with cornering lights and LED DRLs. Up until now, this feature was only available in the Euro-spec Hyundai i20 and the Indian-spec Hyundai i20 Active.
While the lower grades get a music system with an LCD display, the top-end Asta (O) features an Audio Video Navigation system with a 7.0-inch display that was introduced in 2015. Bluetooth telephony continues to be standard in Magna and variants above it.
The 2016 Hyundai i20 range is priced from Rs 549,350 to Rs 860,898 (Ex-showroom Delhi).
