Amazon boss wears worker's cap
March 27, 2009 20:06 IST

Call it the CEO's day out as an ordinary worker.

According to Silicon Alley Insider, Jeff Bezos, founder and chief executive, Amazon.com, is working at a company distribution centre in Lexington, Kentucky, this week. His motto is to spend time with hourly employees to see what they do and hear their comments on work.

He also wants to test how it feels to be an ordinary Amazon employee. An interesting gesture no doubt, in this time of meltdown and rampant lay-offs, says Silicon Alley Insider.

More CEOs should try this once in a while.

Starting from a modest shop in his two-bedroom house, the 44-year-old Bezos, along with his wife Mackenize, built a business which recorded an annual sales of over $10.7 billion in 2006.
