Airtel's re-charge coupons would now be available in post offices across Himachal Pradesh, after a deal signed with the postal department, said Vinod Sud, Bharti Telenet's Himachal chief, on Sunday.

"To start with, 300 post offices will be covered, but in a few months nearly all postal outlets will have the Airtel re-charge coupons," said Vinod Sud, Bharti Telenet state chief.

"Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to strike such a deal with the postal department, Kerala will follow," Sood told Business Standard.

"This tie-up has brought a cutting edge mobile technology at the doorsteps of customers," he said.

"The postal department will display glow signs and banners about the Airtel re-charge coupons and will charge a nominal sum for its services," he said.

With 150,000 customers, Airtel is the largest provider of mobile services in the state where it started its services some eight years ago.

"The postal department has a vast network and we always look at leveraging our infrastructure. Our association with Airtel will enhance our value proposition to our customers," said T K Aryavir, chief post master general, Himachal Pradesh.
