Austrian Airlines on Wednesday announced that it will operate daily flights between Delhi and Vienna during the limited open sky period till March 2005 and it would add Mumbai to its destination from May 2005.

The foreign airlines decided to introduce more flights in the sector, taking advantage of the limited open sky policy. The Airlines has decided that from November 2004, it would have daily operations between Delhi and Vienna, the country manager of Austrian Airlines, Bernhard Baeck said.

"The induction of the additional frequency marks the seventh anniversary of operations to the capital. Encouraged by the response on the Delhi-Vienna sector with a load factor of around 80 per cent, we will introduce two additional flights from Delhi in January next year following the open sky policy of the Government," Baeck said.

Asked whether the airlines was planning to link other Indian cities with Vienna, Baeck said "As per the bilateral air services agreement between India and Austria, the airlines will launch five flights on the Mumbai-Vienna sector from May 2005."

The agreement provides an option of having seven flights but the airlines would begin with only five and plans to add another two in winter 2005, depending on the response, he said.

Baeck also said that the timings of Austrian Airlines would be changed from the middle of December to January 2005 to avoid any difficulty to its passengers due to fog in winters.
