Fly Singapore-Phuket for $6!

Tiger Airways, Singapore's latest low-cost airline, is offering extra-low airfares to entice tourists back to the tsunami-hit Asian region.

You can now fly from Singapore to the Thai resort of Phuket for just US$6! Tiger has offered 20,000 such tickets. However, these fares are applicable only to one-way (Singapore-Phuket) tickets.

The offer does not include any taxes and is valid till February 6. Bookings can be done from Friday through the airline's Website or call center.

The low-cost airline, which is 49 per cent owned by Singapore Airlines, offers four daily flights to Bangkok and one daily service to Phuket and Hatyai.

During its launch in September 2004, Tiger introduced rock bottom promotional fares by offering commercial services from Singapore to Bangkok at a round-trip fare of only 2 Singapore dollars (US $1.16).

The S$2 return tickets were available for a week -- from The airline's launch on September 15 to September 22, 2004.

Meanwhile, Silkair, Singapore Airlines' regional subsidiary, too has offered low-cost packages at $60 per person to Phuket. This package in inclusive of airfare, hotel stay, breakfast and airport transfers.

SilkAir is a large airline which also flies to India, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
