With the feud between Air-India and the Indian Pilots' Guild over, the national flag carrier now has a new pilots' union, Air-India Line Pilot Association.
Sources in the pilots' union said: "A-I has revoked the suspension orders against over 50 pilots following which the court case has become infructuous. However, around 11 pilots continue to be suspended and the matter is now with the civil aviation ministry."
Those suspended include Capt. Kenneth Khan, the president of Indian Pilot's Guild, and Capt. Vijay Sansare, the secretary-general of the IPG.
An Air-India spokesperson denied that the civil aviation ministry was considering the re-induction of the suspended pilots.
"The court case involved the de-recognition of the IPG and the eviction of the union from the Air-India office premises," he said.
While confirming that there was a new pilot's association, the spokesperson added that the "existence of a trade union is good for both, the management as well as the pilots."
A-I had earlier suspended over 50 pilots for abandoning flights across the globe in view of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome.
