Global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing firm Accenture and Sun Microsystems on Wednesday announced that they have teamed up to set up an innovation centre in Bangalore for Sun solutions.

The Accenture Innovation Centre for Sun solutions would be a global hub for next generation, innovative solutions based on Sun's technologies, top executives of the two companies told reporters in Bangalore.

The centre, they said, would be dedicated to the creation of custom solutions for clients as well as the development of industrialised, repeatable and secure identity-enabled and service-oriented architecture-based solutions for clients globally.

It would help develop solutions that would cater to a specific market needs (secure SOA, security for governments and subscriber management for telecommunications), Accenture managing director, global security practice, Alastair MacWilson said.

Accenture had recently announced investment of $450 million in R and D, training, building industry-based solutions in the SOA area, the company said.

Employees at the new Centre would include engineers from Sun and Accenture- dedicated to the development of Identity-enabled SOA-based solutions utilising Sun's software suite and high-performance Solaris Operating System.

"We both co-invest in the centre," MacWilson said.

He said India was preferred for the innovation center given the large presence of their clients leveraging India.
