The Airports Authority of India (AAI) assured Shiv Sena workes that it would stay the transfer orders of 2,500 employees after they agitated at the Mumbai airport on Monday and threatened that the concerned employees would stop working if demands were not met.

"AAI officials have given us a letter ensuring a stay on transfers of employees till June 15," Sena leader Vinayak Raut told PTI.

A delegation led by Raut and another Sena leader Anand Adsul accompanied by about 500 supporters, met the city airport director to protest the transfer of the employees.

The union demanded that the transfer of AAI employees, mostly of Grade IV class, should not be implemented until June 15.

Sena also threatened to stop the work at the airport if the AAI ignores the demand. Sena leaders held a protest at the office of the director for three hours, till they got the written assurance. MNS activists also met the airport director in connection with the issue, party officials said.
