Tata Motors on Monday increased the prices of its passenger vehicles up to three per cent due to rise in input costs.

"Tata Motors today announced an increase in the prices of its passenger vehicles. The increase is effective from today," the company said.

The increase on Tata's flagship Indica, Indigo and Indigo Marina would be in the range of 1-2 per cent, it said.

The company would increase the prices of Sumo and Safari in the range of 2-3 per cent.

"The price increase was necessitated due to the continuous increase in input costs," the company said.

Tata Motors' decision to increase the prices of its products followed that of Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai's hikes during the last month.

Maruti Suzuki had hiked prices of its products across various models between Rs 1,000 and Rs 18,000.

Hyundai Motor India also announced to raise the prices of its vehicles by up to 2 per cent from the first week of June.
