Data released by the Solvent Extractors' Association of India has shown huge rise in exports of oilmeal from India.
According to the data, oilmeal export has gone up by 8 per cent to 432,950 tonnes in April 2007 compared with 399,225 tonnes in the corresponding month last year.
The association has pointed out that growth in the shipment of rapeseed, which more than doubled to 108,375 tonnes from 53,425 tonnes, is the main reason for the jump in exports.
Exports of oilseeds to Vietnam witnessed a 75 per cent rise to 178,625 tonnes, of which 140,975 tonnes were soymeal, 4,400 tonnes were rapeseed and the remaining 33,200 tonnes were ricebran extraction.
