The US economy, Yen carry trade and ofcourse the global markets performance. Today the markets have fallen on the weak subprime mortgage numbers in the housing sector that the US announced yesterday which sent not only the DOW and NASDAQ down but also all the asian and emerging markets.

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Do you mean HedgeD Funds or Hedge Funds. If it is the latter then Hedge funds are not permitted to make an offer of an investment in India by SEBI. But a lot of foreign Hedge Funds are active in India.

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Do you mean Low Cap stocks or Stocks which have a low intra day price range? In the current market scenario especially, I would advise to abstain from intra day trading totally as there is a good chance that you will burn your fingers due to the extremely volatile markets.

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, Dear Gaurav, a very good afternoon to you too. Cairns has made a lot of promises. It will only be evident once we have studied at least 2 to 3 quarterly results. Till then you could look at other power sector stocks. RPL is a long term play and if you are willing to hold till 2009 or 2010 then you are fine. Jubiliant I don't follow.

PRANAV SANGHAVI answers, HCC is surely a good hold even though all the construction companies have been hammered especially those who were seeking benefits under section 80-IA which has been removed with retrospect effect. I still would recommend HCC as a hold.
