Ignoring the threat of a renewed agitation against the small car project at Singur, West Bengal,
Tata Motors went ahead with mobilisation of construction equipment on Monday and enrolment of locals for work on the Rs 1,000 crore (Rs 10 billion) greenfield plant amid heavy security.
"Registration of locals for the construction work was going on and already over 200 people have been engaged with the villagers showing keen interest in the project" the general manager(construction) of Tata Motors M B Kulkarni told PTI.
Mobilisation of the construction equipment was also on and most of the equipment necessary for starting work in the main plant would reach the site
today, he said.
