September 06, 2006 16:34 IST

Brad Durham, managing director of EPFR believes that investors are looking for a catalyst to take markets higher and to pump more liquidity into the markets. He adds that there are some good potential catalysts on the horizon.

He says that the Jardine Fleming India Equity fund took in about $20 million in net inflows in the last week of August.

Excerpts from CNBC-TV18's exclusive interview with Brad Durham:

In the last couple of weeks you have had good news to share with us; is the news okay this week as well?

The news is not positive this week; I wish I had better news to report. I think the last week of August tends to be the height of summer vacations, and I think there is very little activity generally.

But the mood is still decent for emerging markets. I think investors are looking for a catalyst to take markets higher and to pump more liquidity into the market. But there are some good potential catalysts on the horizon.

For India specific funds what did you see by way of big sellers or buyers?

India funds took in about $29 million of net inflows in the week, which was not terribly exciting, but still positive. These are funds of about $15 billion in total assets.

The fund that really stands out in that group was the Jardine Fleming India equity fund. They took in about $20 million of net inflows. So they scooped up about 20 million of the $29 million of inflows into the India funds.
