Wipro Info to buy 3D Networks for $25mn

Wipro Infotech, the India, Middle East and South-East Asian arm of Wipro, is acquiring Singapore-based 3D Networks for $25 million in an all-cash deal.

3D Networks is a $36 million infrastructure management services company, and offers services in business communication infrastructure including voice data and coverged networks, managed services and 24x7 network operations centre, security solutions and services, storage solutions and consultancy services. The company employs close to 300 people, mostly in India. 

Wipro is making the acquisition to beef up its infrastructure services arm as there has been key wins for Wipro Infotech in the recent past. Recently, it won two contracts worth $100 million spread over around ten years.

According to information available, 3D Networks has the option of gaining an addition $40-$40 million through earn-outs

in the next two years based on certain performance parameters. 

The space of infrastructure management services is gaining in acceptance, and this is the second noticeable deal after IBM acquired Bangalore-based Network solutions.

Starting from December 2005, Wipro has acquired Saraware Oy  (design and engineering services to telecom companies) for Euro 25 million, Enabler  (retail solutions ) for Euro 41 million, Quantech Global (mechanical engineering design and analysis services ) for $10 million, North-West Switches for Rs 100 crore (Rs 1 billion), C-Mango (Business Service Management) for $20 million, NewLogic (semiconductor design) for $56 million and Hydrauto for $31 million.
