Faced with shortage of skilled manpower, country's top software exporter Tata Consultancy Services on Friday said it would train 2,000 science graduates over the next year under its new programme.
About 500 students have already been hired for pilot projects of 'TCS Talent Transformation Programme' in the company's Chennai facility, TCS CEO and managing director S Ramadorai said.
"The ongoing pilot is currently underway at Chennai with 500 science graduates selected from across the country. TCS plans to scale up this programme to 2,000 such students during this academic year," he said.
However, the students after undergoing the training programme at
the company will take home less salary at the entry level than the engineering graduates, Ramadorai added.
