India's largest IT services firm Tata Consultancy Services on Wednesday said it won a contract from Eli Lilly to provide various drug development services to the US pharma firm.

As per the contract, TCS would provide services in clinical data management, statistical analysis and medical writing for the US pharma firm, a company release said. The company would also establish Medical Information Sciences Centre in Noida.

"The Lilly-TCS engagement will help us aggressively position as a full services player in the emerging life sciences and healthcare sector," said N Chandrasekaran, executive vice president, TCS.

Though the company has not yet disclosed the size of the deal, analysts and investment bankers here said that the contract could be worth $35-40 million.

This would be TCS's second pharma outsourcing contract. Last year, it had bagged a contract from Novo Nordisk for clinical trial data management.
