US-based network security solutions provider WatchGuard looks to strengthen its foothold in the network security market in India focussing specially on the unified threat management system.
"Our main focus will be to partner with companies who are able to provide us with technical know-how, help us increase our customer base and market reach," Watchguard Country Manager for India and SAARC Ajit Pillai told PTI.
He said the company was looking to take advantage of the fast growing UTM segment in India, which stands at Rs 20 to Rs 30 crore (Rs 200 million to Rs 300 million) out of the total internet security space worth about Rs 150 to 200 crore (Rs 1.5 billion to Rs 2 billion).
"It is growing at about 30 to 40 per cent annually," he said, adding Watchguard would work through distributors and partners to expand its reach in India to leverage on the fast growing segment.
"The best way to move forward in India is the channel or partner mode since it is the optimum way to reach out to our customers and deliver what they want," he said.
The company, Pillai said,will be targetting medium-sized sector, where UTM has a growing space. In India, the company is based in Mumbai but is considering opening branch in Delhi.
UTM appliance is a solution which provides offers myriad protection, including URL filtering, spam blocking, spyware protection, intrusion prevention and gateway anti-virus as well as integrated management, monitoring and logging capabilities-all functions previoulsy handled by multiple systems. WatchGuard, which has been in the country for the past five years with two distributors and about 80 partners.
"We plan to to increase it quantitatively and qualitatively," Pillai said.
