Naukri.com, which gets about 10,000 to 12,000 users per day will target millions of mobile users looking out for jobs in India. Mobile users will get a range of offerings by just sending an SMS or making a call to a naukri.com call centre.
A breakaway from the traditional job advertisements, this information will be personalised to suit the job seekers' interest, making the job hunt easy and exciting.
"We are planning to launch the job search and other related offerings on mobile in February, "Kumar Apurva, AVP & National Head (Mobility, New Media and Ad Sales), said.
So the next time you get a job offer on SMS, don't be surprised. Through naukri.com's database, recruiters can contact relevant candidates through SMS. This will give more value to both recruiters and applicants, making the recruitment process speedy, smooth and efficient.
Today Naukri.com has 50,000 lakh (5 million) searchable resumes and jobs listings of over 200,000 spread over IT, ITeS, retail, pharma, healthcare, financial and even manufacturing sector.
"With the new offerings on mobile, naukri.com will reach millions of people who don't have access to Internet but have a mobile phone. Mobile penetration in India is much higher than Internet. What's more exciting is that the mobile phone is always on and with the customer all the time. The database of resume and listings is set to explode with these value-added services," says Apurva.
Free alerts from Naukri.com's registered database will also be facilitated.
With a one-time premium charge a resume assessment and 'resume zapper' can also be done. Through the zapper service, your resume will be send to a database of 15,000 firms at a fee of Rs 100, which will be charged in the mobile bill.
Job seekers, who want a personalised feedback on their phones, can dial a premium number at a rate of Rs 6 per minute and talk live to a naukri.com centre, where the needs of a job seeker will be taken care of.
"The consumer can register on the phone, ask for relevant job matches, and even apply on phone," adds Apurva.
These services will be available across all telecom networks all over India.
And for those who would like to chat on common issues, Naukri.com will also offer a chat platform of like-minded communities (open chat platform) where you can discuss various issues.
Naukri.com also plans product innovations to stay ahead in the jobs space. A lot of effort is being put to improve search and offer better job matches. While the maximum users are from Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi, the company sees more traffic from smaller towns.
After consolidating its position in India, naukri.com is now eying foreign markets.
Naukri has opened an office in Dubai to cater to the Middle East. "We will also be launching a local jobs Web site for the Middle East region in the next 3 to 6 months," Sanjeev Bikhchandani, founder & CEO, naukri.com said.
The e-recruitment industry was worth Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million) last year and it is expected to grow by 70 to 80 per cent this year. Bullish on the jobs market, Bikhchandani says that the key to further growth lies in convergence of voice, SMS and Internet.
