Automobile major Mitsubishi will source its auto components from India's Hindustan Motors and a joint team of Mitsubishi and HM have shortlisted eight vendors and completed the evaluation process, a top HM executive said on Tuesday.

"The joint team has shortlisted three vendors in south, three in the west and two in the north. With the evaluation complete, trial process will begin soon," Ravi Santhanam, managing director, HM, told reporters after unveiling the two variants of Mitsubishi Lancer Cedia in the sedan category.

"The auto components will include machine components, parts like fuel-filter, fly wheels and malleable iron-castings, all meant for Mitsubishi's global range," he said.

HM's existing facility in Kolkata specialising in auto components will soon manufacture auto components for different manufacturers, Santhanam said.

Coming from HM's plant in Chennai, the regular and sporty model of the Cedia would be available at Rs 987,000 (ex-showroom) across the country, he said.

Lancer Cedia, a premium car evolved from the legendary Evo Series from Mitsubishi-the 4-time rally champion, combines superior technology and design and fuel efficiency, he said.
