Satyam Q2 net up 33% at Rs 251 cr

Satyam Computer Services Ltd on Thursday reported a 32.81 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 250.72 crore (Rs 2.51 billion) for the quarter ended September 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 188.78 crore (Rs 1.89 billion) in the year-ago period.

Total income has increased 31.69 per cent to Rs 1148.39 crore (Rs 11.48 billion) for the second quarter from Rs 872.03 crore (Rs 8.72 billion) in the same quarter last fiscal, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The board also recommended an interim dividend of 100 per cent for the financial year 2005-06, it said.

The company has posted a net profit of Rs 456.76 crore (Rs 4.57 billion) for the half year ended September 30, 2005 as compared to Rs 362.26 crore (Rs 3.62 billion) in the same period previous year.

Total income has increased to Rs 2206.20 crore (Rs 22.06 billion) for the half year ended September 30, 2005 from Rs 1674.29 crore (Rs 16.74 billion) in same quarter previous fiscal.

"It was yet another quarter of high single digit, broad based growth continuing the consistent performance witnessed over the last several quarters. This was the first quarter where we achieved annualized revenue run rate of a billion dollars", Satyam, founder and chairman, B Ramalinga Raju said.
