The third generation automatic device almost painless is customised for Indian patients, said the company chairman, Habil Khorakiwala in a release on Wednesday.
The company designed, developed and manufactured the pen-like device 'Wosulin Pen' which has a unique dial system enabling the detection of the right dose of insulin for the particular patient. The patient has to press an automatic plunger to deliver insulin just under the skin.
The device is like a normal pen and can be carried easily and its usage could be quite discreet. The pen device costs Rs 1,099 and the cartridge Rs 169, Khorakiwala said.
The company had launched the first recombinant insulin, wosulin about 18 months back and now the delivery device wosulin pen with the cartridge making it more affordable.
The pen, coloured in orange and green, underwent rigorous tests and has been certified under ISO 11608, Khorakiwala added.
