Japanese diesel engine maker Yanmar Co Ltd today said it was looking to make India one of its major global outsourcing hubs for components.
"The company is looking at the Indian market as one of the major outsourcing hubs for components required for manufacturing plants located in various countries including Japan," Yanmar said in a release.

Such outsourcing would make the company's products more competitive in the international market, it said.
In a bid to tap the Indian market, the company has also opened a representative office in Noida. The office would carry out market research for their vast range of products in various fields in the Indian market, Yanmar India chief representative officer Takashi Ono said.
In view of the fast growing Indian economy, various products manufactured by Yanmar group would have immense scope in the Indian sub-continent, Ono said.
The $5 billion Japanese major had recently acquired 12 per cent stake in Punjab-based International Tractors Ltd, makers of the Sonalika brand of farm equipment.
