Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates, who arrived on a four-day visit to India late Monday night, called on Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran at his residence on Tuesday morning.

The two had a one-to-one meeting lasting about twenty minutes.

Clad in full-sleeved shirt and trousers, Gates arrived at Maran's place at 7.45 a.m. Maran received the guest and the two posed for the camera persons for a photo opportunity.

"During the meeting both briefly discussed the progress made on the various areas of cooperation identified during the visit of Maran to Seattle, USA, in September this year," a press handed out issued by his ministry said.

The two would have another round of discussion on Wednesday and discuss other measures of cooperation aimed at creating a more enabling environment for adoption of IT across the country.
