December 01, 2005

US-based UPS on Thursday opened its first store in Mumbai. This is the first store outside North America.

"The UPS Store is India's first full-service retail chain that combines packaging, shipping and other business services with Jet Airways ticketing services," Naresh Goyal, chairman, JetAir group said.

The Store primarily serves small and medium-size businesses, mobile workers, SOHOs (small-office, home-office workers) and private consumers.

"Given India's tremendous growth potential, this is an outstanding opportunity to provide specialised business services and convenient access to UPS shipping throughout the country," The UPS Store, MBE president Stuart Mathis said.

The UPS Store in India operates through a master license agreement between Jetair Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Jetair Pvt. Ltd, and Mail Boxes Etc., a wholly owned subsidiary of UPS.
