Blaming the divestment policy for the defeat of the National Democratic Alliance government in the Lok Sabha polls, Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray on Friday said his party supported the Left's demand for scrapping the policy of divestment of profit making public sector undertakings.

Scrap divestment policy: Left parties

Speaking to reporters at his residence – Matoshree -- in suburban Bandra, Thackeray said, "Most of the parties in NDA resorted to 'Ram-Ram' mantra when it suited them and left it abruptly in between. This was another reason for NDA's defeat as it gave a wrong message to the people."

About the "feel good" campaign of NDA, he said it was well taken up during electioneering, but it did not reach the people. It was necessary to disseminate the message of 'feel good factor' to the masses, Thackeray said.

The Sena chief lamented that people in Mumbai had voted for Congress-NCP alliance on "caste and community" lines.
