Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Tuesday announced the setting up of an institute of rescue and medical relief to deal with disaster management.
Presenting the Railway Budget for 2004-05, he said it is proposed to set up the project at a cost of Rs 10 crore (Rs 100 million) to give a fillip to training activities.
This institute shall act as a repository for all modern extrication and medical relief techniques to ensure quicker rescue and provide prompt medical relief, comparable to international standards, he said.
